Web Site Updates
(August 02, 2004)
I'm working on some updates for the web site, most of which are done already. The biggest change is the new song player for the Listen section.
Click on any song either in the Song Of The Month tab at the right or on the Listen page and a new window will open with a Flash based MP3 player to play that song. (You may have to disable any over-zealous pop up blockers you have installed.) And the other available songs will be listed as well. If you want to hear the Fan Song Of The Month you'll need to log in to the site before opening the player. There are 2 bugs in the player that I currently know about. First, once you start a song playing it doesn't stop downloading until it's done, even if you hit stop and cue up and play another song. The other is that the little red triangle I use to show how much of the song has been played isn't accurate until the whole sone is finished downloading. This is because Flash is a pain in the ass and doesn't work the way it's supposed to.
The other major change is the elimination of the banner ads. All they were doing was slowing down the site so I got rid of them.
I also created a new About page in the about section. I figured I'd try to make a more interesting summary type about page with pictures and everything rather than just dumping our entire long winded bio on the user. So the bio is now on a separate page.
I also added a link on the left to our page on the iTunes music store. If you have iTunes installed just click on that link and it'll launch iTunes and take you right to our page.
And also, you no longer have to log in to the message boards to post. You DO still have to log in to this web site before you can get to the message boards, but once you're there you don't have to sign up with the boards separately to post. You can if you want to, but it's no longer necessary.
I have some other minor things I still have to do and it should all be done by the end of the week. But if you find anything wrong at any point just drop me a line and let me know.
